BUU and University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro co-construct Confucius Classroom for Tourism

On November 1st, a signing ceremony was held in the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) for the Confucius Classroom for Tourism co-constructed by BUU and the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro. The signing ceremony was attended by, among others, the relevant project leaders including Ma Jianfei, Deputy Director-General of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of Hanban, Li Xuewei, President of BUU, Veselin Vukotic, President of the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro (UDG), Yin Hao, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Yang Jincheng, Director of Hanban Europe Division, and Wang Yong, Director of the Division of Planning, Hanban.


Both sides held talks first. During the talks, Ma Jianfei pointed out that UDG had established friendly cooperative relations with Chinese universities, especially conducted in-depth exchanges with BUU. On the basis of early cooperation, Hanban supported the two universities in co-constructing the Confucius Classroom for Tourism. The Confucius Classroom for Tourism was establishedr to cultivate talented people able to promote Sino-foreign friendly exchanges, and Hanban would provide a cooperation channel with all programs opened up to the Classroom. He hoped to promote the better, faster development of the Confucius Classroom with support from the two presidents.


President of UDG Vukotic expressed his thanks to Hanban for their support. UDG has conducted exchanges with Chinese universities and enterprises for many years. The university offers a Chinese Studies program focused on comprehensive research of China’s history, culture, technology and economy. The Confucius Classroom will provide a better platform for Chinese Studies, and UDG will strive to construct the Classroom.


President Li Xuewei thanked Hanban for providing the two universities with a new development opportunity. He pointed out, “BUU has a solid foundation of tourism specialty. As the initiator of the China-CEE ‘17+1’ Tourism University Alliance, BUU will give full play to its discipline advantages to integrate tourism, art and Chinese culture into the construction of the Confucius Classroom and provide support in human, financial and material resources to build the Confucius Classroom for Tourism into a paragon of Confucius Classroom.


After the meeting, a signing ceremony was held. Ma Jianfei signed an “agreement on co-constructing Confucius Classroom at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro” on behalf of the Confucius Institute Headquarters. As the Chinese organizer, President of BUU Li Xuewei signed an “agreement on carrying out the co-construction of Confucius Classroom at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro” with President of UDG Vukotic in Ma Jianfei’s presence. BUU’s first independent Confucius Classroom for Tourism was formally established.


The meeting and signing ceremony were also attended by the leaders of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and School of Tourism.
