Vice Chancellor of Griffith University Visits

Beijing Sep. 22 (BUU) Professor Ian O’Connor, Vice Chancellor and President of Griffith University (Griffith), Professor Michael Powell, Pro Vice Chancellor of Griffith, along with their delegation paid a visit to Beijing Union University (BUU), in hope of strengthening ties and deepening friendship with Chinese counterpart. Professor Bao Hong, Vice President of BUU, joined the welcome meeting.

 

Professor Bao Hong extended his warmest welcome to Professor O’Connor and his delegation. After the introduction of BUU history, current situation and featured programs, he attached great importance to the development of Tourism College. “Tourism College is one of the most indispensible parts towards Beijing’s economic development and has made tremendous contribution to the society,” he pointed out. With cooperation in the field of tourism, he expects both universities not only further develop the featured programs, but enhance the academic and scientific research.

 

Professor O’Connor expressed his willingness to communicate and work with BUU in fields of tourism. “Tourism College of BUU is the best tourism higher institution in Beijing, while Griffith is the best university in terms of tourism in Australia,” he said. Also, he would like to see the collaboration of the two best and hope they could contribute to the sustainable development of tourism industry with joint efforts.

 

Representing BUU and Griffith, Professor Bo Hong and Professor Ian O’Connor officially signed the MOU after the meeting.

 

Also attended was relating staff of Tourism College, College of International Education, Division of International Exchange and Cooperation and other divisions.
